Marika

Marika is a young Polish DJ who has only been DJing since 2002, but her talent and dedication has lead to the most amazing success story.
After struggling to find recognition playing her favoured progressive sounds, Marika decided to enter the Heinekin Music Thirst DJ Competition in 2003. She won the semi-final, and soon found herself taking part in the final in Warsaw.
The competition jury, under the chairmanship of dance legend Paul Oakenfold, made Marika the winner, and she hasn't looked back since.
The prize for winning the competition was to DJ alongside Paul Oakenfold, and to play a gig in Athens. After these performances she soon found the offers rolling in, and she now finds herself one of the most in-demand DJs in Poland. And she plays alongside some of the biggest artists on the international scene, such as Layo & Bushwacka, Kosheen, Cassius and Daniel Davoli.
The international scene is beckoning too: so far her travels have taken her to The Lebanon, Greece and Lithuania, and the prospect of Ibiza and London are looming large.
In January 2004 Marika established her own DJ collective, called Progredior (www.progredior.pl), to promote the progressive and tribal house scene in Poland that she is so dedicated to.
In May 2004 she was voted Poland's second most popular DJ by the readers of Laif, a Polish magazine devoted to clubbing culture.
Marika is a talented, young DJ climbing the ladder of success, and judging by the way she is going, it won't be long before she gets to the top.
